content management systems (cms)

Content management applications put you in direct control of your web site content. SystemCore have four main flavours of CMS to suit your specific publishing requirements and your operating system.

1. SystemCore | Custom WordPress Development (WP MU/MS)

SystemCore | WordPress Developers

WordPress (WP MU/MS/BuddyPress) is one of the world's most popular, established and widely supported CMS systems.

WordPress is now our first choice for most new website projects that require integrated content management; and there are good reasons for this:

WordPress (WP MU/MS) is one of the world's most popular, established and widely supported CMS systems. It is a publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, Web standards, usability and extensibility, and is customisable into just about any configuration. Its extension library is impressively deep, and it can fully support large-scale multi-user websites, blogging platforms and secure e-commerce. WordPress is built on PHP and MySQL and licensed under the GPL*: thus there are no initial nor ongoing licence fees for the core code. It is a mature and stable product that is virtually unmatched for versatility and future proofing. (*General Public Licence)

WordPress can support multiple user groups, roles and permissions, and radically simplifies work-flow. It’s therefore ideal for distributed and/or devolved web-based operation, involving administrators, editors, authors, contributors, etc. Registered user groups and restricted/premium content systems can also be created if required.

The WordPress architecture is incredibly versatile and extensible, with a multiple taxonomy/category system, content key-word tagging, page templates, themes (page styles), content blocks, plug-in functional modules, mod-rewrite, smart URLs, and many other features. It’s simply one of the most powerful and flexible web development and CMS platforms available. Clear separation of content, style and function make modification and extension much easier, and rich functionality more affordable.

Multi-media content management (such as uploads of images, audio, video, PDF, etc.) plus WYSIWYG (visual) content editor with version roll-back features makes an administrator’s life incredibly easy, allowing them to keep content fresh, organised and accessible.

The platform also offers extensive support for social networking, content syndication and aggregation; for example, RSS, blogosphere, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. WordPress was designed from the outset to operate in highly connected social networks, and has arguably helped to define them. It is also extremely search-engine friendly, meaning deployed websites have the best chance of doing well in search engine results. A powerful RSS news aggregation/syndication module is also available to help build unique and valuable information resource quickly.

There is extensive support for user participation and collaborative community building, including the ability to moderate and selectively publish user comments, and create basic forms and surveys. Forums, discussion groups, social networking and micro-blogs can all be implemented if required.
